When Ed
Sheeran starts a record label and signs his first artist, you take
note. That artist is Jamie Lawson and the label is Gingerbread Man
Records. Lawson is far from new to the music scene, as he has been making
music for the past 15 years, but his major label, self-titled, debut went
straight to number 1 on the UK charts and I would not be surprised if he hits
number 1 here in the US soon. His music is real. He tells
amazing stories in his songs and makes you feel what he is conveying. His first single
Wasn't Expecting That is a fantastic story about love and death.
It truly captivates me. The crazy part about all of this is, Google Play was offering his new album for FREE is you pre-ordered
it a while back. I had no clue who he was, but figured it was worth a
shot for free. I pre-ordered it and completely forgot about it.
Then I saw something online about him and recognized the name. I went to
my library, downloaded the album and became hooked. I love
singer/songwriters, so I figure this would be in my vein of music. I was
so right. If you get a chance to listen to Jamie, I highly recommend
it. Besides Google Play, you can also get the album from iTunes & Amazon. If you fall in love with him like I did, grab his Indie albums (he has 3) they are all awesome!
